family Chiropractic

Everyone in the family can benefit from regular adjustments.

Chiropractic

Chiropractic care has been used for more than 125 years to restore normal biomechanics of the spine. When the joints of the spine are not moving properly not only can this create discomfort, but it can also interfere with nerve communication. The chiropractic adjustment restores the normal range of motion of joints, releases muscle tension and allows the brain to communicate more efficiently with the body.

Pregnancy (Webster technique)

Because the pregnant spine moves differently than the non-pregnant spine, it is important to adjust pregnant people differently. The Webster Technique is specifically intended for use with the pregnant pelvis. A Webster Certified Chiropractor focuses on the proper movement of the sacrum as well as muscles and ligaments surrounding the uterus. This gentle technique helps to bring balance to rapidly changing structures throughout pregnancy. It is also associated with improvement in comfort, nervous system communication, decreased labor times, decrease in interventions requested during labor and birth, and favorable birth outcomes of the birthing person and baby.

Dr. Knowlton received her Webster Certification in 2019. Since then she has furthered her education and training through the ICPA receiving her Perinatal Certification in 2022. This in-depth certification covers everything in the perinatal phase. This means that Dr. Knowlton not only has the advanced skills but also the experience supporting families from every aspect of pregnancy from preconception through postpartum.

Pediatrics

No clicks and pops here! Adjustments to an infant’s spine are slow and gentle, only using the amount of force required to check the ripeness of a tomato. Whether your baby was born vaginally or via Cesarean section, the birth process is one of the most potentially traumatic events in a human’s life. Restricted joints of the spine can create discomfort with the normal movements required in latching and nursing, sitting in carriers and diaper changes. Remember, the chiropractic adjustment is not just for pain but helps the nervous system communicate more efficiently. When the brain is not communicating properly with the body infants might experience symptoms of reflux, colic, gas, constipation, retained reflexes or not reaching developmental milestones on time.

Not every chiropractor has training in adjusting infants; be sure to ask your Chiropractor their level of training to make sure they are experts in this very specialized field.
